Under the patronage of H.E. Awadh Mohammed Bin Al-Wazir, Governor of Shabwa Governorate, the foundation stone was laid today and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed for the project “Enhancing Sustainability and Improving Infrastructure of the Al-Awsha Water Well Field.”

The project is funded and supervised by the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO), Kuwait, and implemented by ALtwasul for Human Development in coordination with the Shabwa Local Water and Sanitation Corporation. The intervention includes the construction of a 4-kilometer primary water transmission pipeline with a diameter of 10 inches, aimed at increasing water pumping efficiency and improving the reliability of water supply services to Ataq City.

The project is expected to strengthen water security, reduce water losses, and enhance the quality and sustainability of water services provided to local communities, thereby supporting ongoing sustainable development efforts across Shabwa Governorate.
